Alonzo Mourning Charities is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public fundraising organization that helps create the foundation for youth to excel. Since 1997, more than $6.5 million has been raised for various organizations and projects that aid in the development of children and families who are in at-risk situations.
Mourning has now focused his attention to stimulating the development of youth enrichment centers. With the help of donors, Mourning opened the first center in 2003 in South Florida, known as the Overtown Youth Center.
In addition, the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, a program of Alonzo Mourning Charities, mentors young girls ages 8-18.
With your participation, Alonzo Mourning Charities can continue to make great strides towards funding programs and centers that help change lives.
Wade's World Foundation
Wade's World Foundation provides support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations. Dwyane was inspired to start the foundation because he wanted to give back to underserved communities and support issues of purpose. "I can't just let basketball define who I am and what I am supposed to become," said Wade. "Like my mother always tells me, '[My life] is bigger than basketball.'"
Since 2003, Dwyane and his family have been dedicated to giving back to their core communities in the Chicago and South Florida areas through a variety of community outreach programs. As the WWF continues to develop and expand, the mission is to touch young lives around the globe.
